About Jane Austen Festival
The Jane Austen Festival is one of the largest celebrations of the novelist anywhere in the world, drawing fans from across the globe to the city where she lived and set two of her novels. For ten days each September, Bath honours its most famous former resident with Regency balls, talks, walks, workshops and theatre.
The festival opens with the Regency Costumed Promenade, when hundreds of people in period dress parade through the city streets, and watching it is free. Most other events are ticketed, from dances to performances. It suits Austen devotees, costume enthusiasts and anyone curious about Regency life, and the city's Georgian streets make a fitting backdrop.
