About Taunton Festival of the Arts

Taunton Festival of the Arts, also known as the Brian Cresswell Music Festival, is a competitive festival founded in 1913. For more than a century it has given young singers, pianists, instrumentalists and ensembles the chance to perform for experienced adjudicators.

The music festival covers voice and choirs, piano, composition, woodwind, brass, strings and ensembles, plus a musical theatre masterclass and pop vocals, and there are separate drama and dance sections. Most classes take place at Temple Methodist Church, with some sessions at the Tacchi Morris Arts Centre. It is a lovely way to hear local talent at the start of their musical journeys.
